👩🍳 Instructions
-
1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and lightly flour a 9-inch round cake pan or an 8x8 inch square baking pan. Set aside.
-
2
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, ¾ cup granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
-
3
In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the ½ cup melted butter, eggs, whole milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
-
4
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir with a spatula until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; a few small lumps are okay.
-
5
In a small bowl, whisk together the ¼ cup granulated sugar and ground cinnamon for the topping. Drizzle in the 2 tbsp melted butter and stir with a fork until crumbly.
-
6
Pour the cake batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar topping generously over the entire surface of the batter.
-
7
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean and the top is golden brown and set.
-
8
Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool in the pan on a wire rack for 10-15 minutes. Then, carefully invert it onto the wire rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.
💡 Notes
For an even richer flavor, you can substitute half of the butter in the cake batter with unsalted brown butter. Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the smoothest batter. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
